The Cup will be won in Austria and Gurecky arrives on the cusp, but anything can happen in motorcycle racing!

The time has come and the countdown is finally over! After six stunning rounds of racing, the 2021 Northern Talent Cup arrives at the season finale and it’s a return to the glorious Red Bull Ring as Austria plays host. Jakub Gurecky (JRT Brno Circuit) arrives with a near-insurmountable advantage in the standings, but as they say… it ain’t over till it’s over! Can he wrap it up?

With such a huge advantage in his pocket, the Czech rider holds all the cards. Rossi Moor (FAIRIUM Next Generation Riders Team) is 49 points down so would need to win both races and see Gurecky fail to score in both, and Lorenz Luciano (Junior Black Knights Team), who’s one point further back, would need the same – he’d bring himself equal on points with the Czech rider, but he’d have one more win if he did the double. So the odds are a real long shot, despite the fact it wasn’t the best venue for Gurecky on the NTC’s last visit.

It was a great venue for Moor, however, and he’ll want to get back on the top step for the win as well as the points. He’s already taken victory earlier in the season at the Red Bull Ring, so he’ll be feeling confident of a bounce back from a dramatic second race at Assen. Luciano, meanwhile, had a tougher first time out in Austria this season, but he’s found form when he’s needed it a fair few times in the NTC. Can he go on the attack on take two?

Currently in fourth it’s Jonas Kocourek (JRT Brno Circuit), and he’s 41 points off Luciano so fighting his way back into the top three is a longer shot, but never say never. He also has podium form in Styria which will see him arrive with some confidence. Can he get another rostrum to round out the year?

As well as Jacopo Hosciuc (Hos Racing Team) – fresh from a first win – and the likes of now-perennial frontrunners Stepan Zuda (Motoracing23 klub v ACR) and home hero Niklas Kitzbichler (Racing Team Kitzbichler), there’s one other rider who’ll likely be a serious threat at the front: Kevin Farkas (Agria Racing Team). The Hungarian suddenly shot into contention last time the NTC raced in Austria, and his step forward continued at the TT Circuit Assen last time out. As he returns to the venue of his first NTC win, can he take the Red Bull Ring by the horns and taste victory again in 2021?

Everything is on the line and the winner of the 2021 Northern Talent Cup is about to be crowned. Make sure to stay up to date with everything from the season finale as Race 1 begins at 15:40 (GMT +2) on Saturday, before Race 2 at 11:10 on Sunday!
