Italian promoter EMG Eventi launches a new 3-step path to increase the presence of female talent in two-wheel racing. The 2023 season will see the first edition of the Women’s European Championship take place, after three successful campaigns previously known as Women’s European Cup. The FMI and the FIM Europe also offered EMG Eventi their full support and collaboration in two additional series based in Italy, aimed at breeding new talent at an entry-level stage.

The Women’s European Championship will now feature a total of ten races across six venues. The opening round will take place at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli”, moving on to Circuit Ricardo Tormo (Valencia, Spain) double round. The series will be then making its debut at Autodrom Most (Czech Republic) double round, Automotodrom Brno (Czech Republic) double round and Autodromo Internazionale “Enzo e Dino Ferrari” di Imola), with an additional round in Italy that is still subject to confirmation.

EMG Eventi is also ready to offer the riders who are still lacking the experience to make it to the Women’s European Championship the opportunity to race on Italian Championship Official SSP 300 bikes in Italy. The initiative is authorised and supported by the FMI and will feature a total of six events, of which three will be support races during the official CIV rounds and the remaining three will take place at CIV Junior events.

The Women’s Cup entry-level trophy in Italy is also set to go ahead as part of the CIV Junior rounds at the Autodromo di Modena, Autodromo “Riccardo Paletti” in Varano De’ Melegari and Autodromo dell’Umbria of Magione.

Such a structured path for women in Italian and European motorcycle racing would not be possible without the close cooperation between EMG Eventi , Motoxracing and Christian Farinelli and Letizia Marchetti from FMI, who have been supporting and promoting the female-talent oriented project since the beginning.

EMG Eventi was also recently awarded the 2022 Women in Motorcycling Trophy at the FIM Awards in Rimini (Italy) for setting up and developing the Women’s European Cup for the past three years and driving it to the next level from 2023 onwards.

Max De Simone, CEO of EMG Eventi

“To say I’m excited to receive the FIM Award for best Women in Motorcycling Trophy is an understatement. It all started in 2020, when I came up with the crazy idea with Sandro Carusi and Letizia Marchetti to create a Women’s European project, as female presence in motorcycle racing was constantly increasing. Three years later, thanks to my sponsors’ support and the passionate female riders, I received this prestigious award and the Women’s European Cup is set for a new beginning as an official Championship from 2023. I wish to thank FMI, FIM Europe and FIM for the amazing support. Being able to drive female riders to the next level is a significant step forward in empowering women for the future. We will keep working even harder to help more talents reach their dreams and hopefully in three years we’ll be making headlines about a Women’s World Championship”.
